Tsitsikamma
Otter Trail
18th to 22th November 2006.
Once every couple
of years I finally get it together to apply for and book entrance to the
Tsitsikamma Otter Trail in the Southern Cape. This is my fourth time,
having first wanted to do it back in 1981 when Dad and Mom left Ruth and I in
Bo's care while they drove down to a very wet Tsitsikamma Forest. As luck
would have it, due to the overflowing rivers, Dad and Mom did not hike the trail
that year but did complete it a couple of years later. My chance came in
1990 when I hiked it with Dad, Mom, Franz, Clive, Walter, Richard, Sue and
others. Since then I have had to return to re-live the wonderful
experience of that fantastic section of coastline. Amazingly, for the
third time, Clive Durston joined us - Go Clive, its almost getting to be like
the Comrades Marathon.
My thanks to Heather and Gary Blackstock whose photographs have been included in
this record.
